WTF: Harrison Ford in a Lifetime Movie

Okay, so technically the title of this post is misleading and by misleading I mean completely inaccurate. Harrison Ford is in fact not starring in a Lifetime Movie but peep the preview for his movie Extraordinary Measures below and tell me that you wouldn't be totally wrong for confusing it for one.

Dying kid? Check. Former TV star in a leading role? Check. Based on a true story? Yes. It has all of the makings of a Lifetime movie and its January release date proves that the studio doesn't think it's exactly Oscar material.

Yet more than Harrison Ford being in this movie, it is what the hell happened to Brendan Fraser? Apparently he's going from fighting mummies to fighting the battle of the bulge. And just like the last Mummy sequel, he's doing a middling job at best.

WTF: This post swears it didn't call TR Knight a homophobic slur

Proving once again that the obligatory E! True Hollywood Story will be the most amazing one since Joyce DeWitt called out Suzanne Somers for being a pretty crap example of a human being, more drama swirls around Grey's Anatomy and the new season hasn't even started yet.

This time, TR Knight, who played George on Grey's Anatomy before literally being thrown under a bus in the season finale, is speaking to Entertainment Weekly about his reasons for his departure from the show.

Let's be honest, does anybody care why he left? Not particularly since it's sort of obvious from the beginning of the season that George was being shoved into the background. There have been charges that Knight was a diva but in comparison to inexplicably bankable Katherine Heigl, I'm sure it was pretty mild.

Though his own future may be bright on Broadway, starring in an upcoming revival of Lend Me a Tenor, Grey's Anatomy's own future is still a bit murky. Every season now there has been lots of backstage drama that is proving to be infinitely more interesting than that ghost sex that is appearing on television. With physical fights, diva demands, and people withdrawing their names from the Emmys because of unworthy material, Grey's Anatomy is in need of some immediate life support.

And to end this, remember when it was a huge scandal that the Desperate Housewives got into a tizzy over who wore what bathing suit for their Vanity Fair cover? Looks almost quaint in comparison doesn't it?

WTF: This post wants you to buy this product while supplies last

There is nothing quite like when a celebrity launches a clothing line, perfume, dish soap line in order to bring some cash because these are usually followed by a commercial. These commercials always have the faint taint of desperation in them, which makes them things of beauty. Here are some of the best celebrity commercials for products and by best, of course, I mean wonderful little trainwrecks in bite-size forms:

Avril Lavigne, Black Star perfume. Apparently in a quest to prove that she could produce something more terrible than her The Best Damn Thing album with the mind-blowingly atrocious Girlfriend single, Avril launched her perfume Black Star and put out this commercial that is a like Hot Topic nightmare put to the worst vocals as Avril flounces around while caterwauling about you always being a black star. Whatever that means. Stick to singing about things being complicated and spelling skater boy like you're tweeting it to somebody.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Covet. Alleged style icon Sarah Jessica Parker who, along with costume designer Pat Field, spent years assaulting the public's eye with their creations for Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City. With her fashionista status all but written in blood, Sarah Jessica Parker launched a clothing line as well as some fragrances. This commercial below for Covet brings the unintentional hysterics as SJP steals her own perfume by using one of her hooves and kicking in a window. I mean, really SJP? What would Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha think of such behavior?

Lindsay Lohan, Fornarina commercial. Really, there is nothing I can say about this. Just watch and laugh.

And to cleanse yourself after that trainwreck, a pretty fantastic ad that Charlize Theron did for Dior.

WTF: This post is over Kathy Griffin. Allegedly.

Kathy Griffin's current season of her Emmy award winning "reality" show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List can, in Kathy's own words, suck it.

To preface all of this, I have to say that I love Kathy Griffin to death. Hell, I gave a dvd of her Allegedly special as a graduation gift and routinely try to incorporate her story about Sharon Stone reading the lyrics to "Imagine" at an AIDS benefit into my icebreaker stories.

I also was a huge fan of the initial seasons of the show, but I have found my love for both Kathy's stand-up and her show to be on the wane for myriad reasons but all essentially stemming from the fact that Kathy Griffin is no longer on the D-list.

When Kathy really started using her D-list status as part of her shtick in her special The D-List, it was refreshing and hilarious how she was calling out Hollywood for all of its b.s. while simultaneously mocking her deep desire to be a part of it.

But Griffin placed herself in a weird situation that the more she talked about being a D-lister, the more famous she became therefore removing her from the d-list.

Probably the biggest shift for the show was when Kathy divorced her husband Matt. Matt brought out a softer, non-on persona side of Kathy in episodes during the beginning run of the show, something that is sorely missed at the moment.

The show has sort of now mutated into a shittier version of Curb Your Enthusiasm with Kathy as the Larry David figure and celebrities coming on and doing improv and nothing actually documenting Kathy's real life.

It's a shame really. If I wanted to watch a brash female comedian with a large gay following flounder in a heavily scripted "reality" show, I would've tuned into the beyond pitiful Margaret Cho VH-1 program, The Cho Show.

WTF: This post is a girl, interrupted.

In screwy celebrity news, according to http://www.accesshollywood.com/source-mischa-barton-placed-under-involuntary-psychiatric-hold_article_20659, Mischa Barton has been put in involuntary psychiatric hold, which is just another rough bump on Mischa Barton's post-The O.C. career.

Mischa was never what anybody would consider a competent actress but she's pretty and on a teen soap that's what really matters. But, Mischa, clearly not learning from the ghost of teen star past Shannen Doherty, got herself fired from the show after the third season and her career has been in free fall ever since. There are a ton of her movies that have only made it to DVD, including a truly misguided film about the Russian girl-on-girl group t.a.t.u. There was also the very famous turning down of a guest stint on the little watched but much written about Gossip Girl.

Mischa Barton's finest acting moment on The OC:

Mischa's new show The Beautiful Life:

And the best modeling show ever:

Now Barton is set to relaunch her career, starring in a modeling soap opera produced Ashton Kutcher.

Hey, maybe this whole stint is just a giant version of Punk'd.

WTF: This in, in dear God why news, another Bridget Jones sequel?!

Proving you can't keep a crap movie series down, the people behind Bridget Jones are threatening the viewing public with a second sequel according to reports in various industry magazines.

Now I loved the first book and the subsequent movie. Hell, I even bought the "You Go Girl" filled soundtrack.

Then the second film happened and that was a failure in epic ways since they decide to make Bridget Jones more of a creature of ridicule than somebody to root for.

Now with a third movie, about her trying to have a baby in her 40s, looming, I have to ask why on Earth would somebody want to do that.

And then you have to sort of look at the failure that is Renee Zellweger's career at the moment. The last big hit movie she starred in, other than doing the voice in a couple animated films, was the Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason movie. She's has had around seven movies since then proving Renee picks scripts as well as she picks totally heterosexual country singers to be her husband.

FTW and WTF: Emmy Nominations Awards

It's the most wonderful time of the year, at least if you're television fanatic like yours truly. It's Emmy nominations time! Woot! A time of celebration mixed with bitterness as Hollywood honors the talented, the untalented and the "They are still getting work?" of the industry.

This year was no different as the Emmy nominations were littered with happy surprises, shocking snubs and a laundry list of inexplicable nominations. So in honor of the Emmy nominations, I've created my own awards. And the winners and runner-ups are . . .

The Doris Roberts/Tony Shalhoub Award: This award goes to the actor/actress who will keep getting nominated for a performance for a character long past its sell by date. And the winner is................Unsurprisingly, Tony Shalhoub for his portrayal of Monk on the USA Network show Monk.

The "I Still Don't Know If They Can Or Cannot Act but Sure, Let's Keep Nominating Them Award" is pretty self-explanatory and goes to............Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU. Hargitay, who has never found a piece of scenery she couldn't masticate with glee, continues to be nominated and win Emmys in spite of really being an awful actress which I guess gives people like Melissa George the will to live.

The "How Isn't This a Cast of a Touching All-Female Dramedy Film Written and Directed by Nora Ephron" goes to..................The "Outstanding Actress in a Drama Category." I mean, seriously. Sally Fields, Glenn Close, Kyra Sedgwick, AND Holly Hunter all going for the gold in the same category and NOBODY has used that as a jumping off point for casting a film? For shame.

And the "Way Past its Relevancy but Nice Try Emmys" goes to .............nominating Family Guy for outstanding comedy series. The show, which was brilliant in its first years, has been running on fumes for seasons.

The Biggest Continuing Snub....Cat Deely continuing not to be nominated for best reality competition host so Ryan Seacrest and his Louis Vuitton bag colored skin can prance about and Jeff Probst can be a dick in khakis.

WTF: People being the least bit surprised at La Toya Jackson's behavior

It has recently come out that La Toya Jackson was paid for an interview, an interview in which she claimed that Michael Jackson was murdered. And some people seem to be surprised at such a controversial claim to be coming from LaToya, blatantly forgetting her long stemming history of questionable behavior. There were the pyschic hotlines, the Playboy spreads, the tell-all books, but obviously the most egregious example would obviously be her "music" "career." Now, none of the Jacksons are known for their voices being terribly weighty. They usually were just a cog in the well-oiled machine of a good pop tune.

Below are some "highlights" of LaToya's career:

A commercial for La Toya's tell-all book:

And a truly ghastly rendition of Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Something"
